More than 400 financial institutions across the state provide low-interest consumer and community development loans through the Treasurer’s Opportunity Illinois program.

Opportunity Illinois Consumer loans make a difference in the day-to-day lives of individuals with disabilities, families of U.S. military personnel who are called to duty, and the victims of natural disasters.

Opportunity Illinois Community Development loans enable businesses and
non-profits to broaden their services, strengthening neighborhoods and communities.

Opportunity Illinois is one of three types of deposit programs operated by the Treasurer’s Office. Under state law, the Treasurer’s Office has the authority to deposit state money at a reduced rate of interest in eligible financial institutions that issue loans at below-market rates for specific projects and programs.
